Weak ankles, knees that ache after jumping sessions, forearms that burn upon landing? The Select protections from the Black Friday sale address each of these issues, with knee pads, Active 2 and T2 ankle supports, compression sleeves, and a knee strap.
Compression shorts, base layers, elbow pads, and shells are also part of the offering from the Danish brand, best known for its balls.
Knee pads make up the bulk of the Select range. They come in compression models, which wrap around the joint and keep it warm, and support models, which stabilize the kneecap. Before choosing, check the details for padding: to absorb the dives in volleyball, that’s the point that matters.
The Active 2 and T2 ankle supports, in black or white, stabilise the joint without hindering jumping. In volleyball, this is no minor issue: the International Volleyball Federation lists ankle sprains among the most common injuries, with a high risk of recurrence in the first year. After a sprain, many players choose to wear an ankle support or strapping.
Repeated jumps in blocking and attacking fatigue the patellar tendon: this is “jumper's knee,” one of the most common wear-and-tear injuries among volleyball players. The Select strap is placed just below the kneecap: by applying pressure to the tendon, it reduces the tension during jumps. It’s a comfort aid, not a treatment: if pain persists, consult a physiotherapist or doctor.
The 6610 compression sleeve, in blue or red, covers the arm, while the 6150, in white, covers the leg. The 6407 compression shorts, black with fluorescent green accents, are worn under match shorts. The under-tops extend the same idea for the upper body, so your shoulders don’t get cold between sets.
The elbow pads protect the elbow during falls in defence. The protective cup, in white, shields the lower abdomen: on a volleyball court, it is mainly used by those who also play contact sports.
The page Black Friday protections displays all brands together. Later in the winter, the special offer protections continue, before the sales.
The product type filter isolates the Active 2 and T2 ankle supports on this page. Then compare their support level in the details.
It reduces the risk, especially after the first sprain, but it doesn’t do everything. Strengthening the ankles and good positioning at the net are just as important.
Just below the kneecap, on the tendon, tight enough to feel the support without tingling. Remove it after the session to let the skin breathe.
A compression should tighten without squeezing to the point of discomfort. For a long session or tournament, it’s better to go for something a bit softer than a sleeve that ends up numbing you. The product sheet shows the measurements to take.
A delicate cycle or hand wash will do. Skip the fabric softener, which clogs the fabric and reduces the compression effect, and lay it flat to dry, away from radiators.
